11 Questions Meme
I was tagged by
kaitou_lili for the 11 Questions Meme. Here were my answers:
1. Where would you go if you could go anywhere?
Well I guess if I could go anywhere and things like money/time were no object, I would love to go to Europe. Which is vague and not very specific but I've never been out of my tri-state area, so any place abroad would be awesome. Particularily, I think I'd like to go to Italy or Ireland.
2. What's your favorite place you've ever been?
As mentioned in #1, I haven't been many places but I do love the North Carolina mountains. My dad used to take us up to Blowing Rock every summer when I was kid, just for a day trip, but now that I'm an adult, I'd love to stay up there for a few days and just soak up the scenery.
3. Have you ever been to a sci-fi/fantasy/anime convention? Did you like it?
I have been to one scifi convention for the past 3-4 years running and I go to a local comic book convention almost every year since I was in college. The scifi convention is usually fun although sometimes the panels are really boring and sort of repetitive after so many repeat attendings. They really don't change up their guest list much, I'm afraid. However, I have gotten to meet and chat with John Billingsley and Bonita Friedericy last year which was the highlight. They are both totally nice, awesome and approachable.
I have never been to an anime convention but I'm scheduled to go to my first this Memorial Day with my sister who is a huge anime fan and a Lolita cosplayer.
4. If you could, would you go back and change the course of your life? For instance, I'm happily studying to be a tax lawyer now, but every so often I wonder what would have happened if I wouldn't have transferred to Rocky in college or if I wouldn't have given up Latin so easily.
If I could go back and change anything, it would be my decision to go to grad school. For those who are new~ I got kicked out of grad school which meant that I wasted upwards of $10,000 on a degree I can't finish. For the first few years, the failure of it all was grating, but now it's really the money. If I could go back and change things, I'm not sure that I would've skipped it entirely but I definitely think I would've went into something that was less academic in its ultimate goals and something more skills-building. Probably Library Science or the Museum Studies (History) program instead of Religious Studies.
5. What's something about you that I don't know?
I have no idea because I am a complete over-sharer! So, um...here's a story I've told a few times recently: when I was in a freshman in high school, I had teacher decide that my creative writing project was "too good" to have been written by a high schooler but since he couldn't prove it (because he was really fucking wrong) he didn't fail me for it. Instead, he wrote me a very stern letter saying that he knew I had copied it from somewhere and that he would be watching me, blah, blah. He eventually apologized for this, mostly because he ran into me with my dad, but it never made it any better. I was so glad when he moved on to a different school the next year.
6. When you met me did you like me right away, or did I grow on you like fungus?
I'm pretty sure I met
kaitou_lili because she liked one of my fanfics and since she's the best cheerleader/feedbacker around, I'm sure I loved her immediately. :)
7. Great Danes? Awesome or not.
I'm gonna go with "not" just because a) I'm a cat person and b) I prefer my dogs smaller, furrier and usually of the herding variety. But Great Danes are awesome for Great Dane people. :D
8. Mashed potatoes? Awesome or not
Awesome, but more awesome when seasoned with onions and garlic and made into potato cakes served with sour cream!
9. The tax system? Awesome or not
Not awesome unless it means I get money back from the government, then it's awesome.
10. What is your favorite memory?
That's a mighty big question! There are a lot of them up for grabs but I will go with...the second time I saw Stevie Nicks in concert. When she stepped on stage and the band starting playing the opening to "Trouble in Shangri-La," I teared up. I REGRET NOTHING.
11. And...are you watching the superbowl?
I did not watch the Superbowl because I do not follow football. I, however, did watch Puppy Bowl VIII which was outstanding! I wanted to adopt all the puppies. XD
I am not going to tag anyone in particular, but here are 11 questions if someone wants to do them!
1. Who is your oldest online friend and do you remember how you met them?
2. If you could speak any language fluently, other than your native one, what would it be and why?
3. What is your favorite food(s) to have for breakfast?
4. What would be / make something your perfect job?
5. If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
6. If you could only talk to one person for the rest of the year? Who is it and why?
7. What is your favorite kind of Girl Scout cookies?
8. If you could make one of your non-canon ships canon, what would it be and why?
9. What is your guilty pleasure cartoon of choice?
10. What's a novel you read that you wouldn't say you liked but that still touched you in some way?
